Second Alarm Apartment Fire in Scottsdale, Arizona.

A second alarm apartment fire in Scottsdale sent one elderly woman to the hospital Monday Evening after flames broke out inside a bedroom around 5:40 pm

When crews arrived, they found an active bedroom fire and quickly upgraded the incident to a working fire before later calling a second alarm for additional manpower. According to Scottsdale Fire officials, one elderly female suffered burn injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. Officials say the woman had been burning sage inside the apartment while using oxygen equipment in the home.

Firefighters were able to contain the flames before they spread further through the apartment complex. Officials also confirmed there were no working smoke alarms inside the residence at the time of the fire.

Scottsdale Fire Captain Dave Folio provided information on scene as investigators continued working to determine the full circumstances surrounding the fire.
