Man Shot in Mesa; Suspect Flees Before Police Arrive

Around 7:40 PM officers with the Mesa Police Department responded to the 600 block of West 5th Avenue following reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they located an adult male suffering from injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where his injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.

The suspect fled the area before officers arrived and has not yet been located. Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Police say there is no ongoing threat to the community at this time.
